CAPITAL REGIONAL DISTRICT MODIOLUS AGING STUDY

Our team is has provided shellfish ageing services to the Capital Region District (Victoria) which uses the deep water Horse mussel (Modilous modiolus) as a biological indicator in the Clover Point sewage outfall monitoring project. Using acetate peel age determination techniques our team prepares shells and produces data reports on the ages of individual shells collected in this program and prepared annual reports on the size and age distribution of mussels collected in this program.

We have previously also conducted shellfish ageing in support of other fishery and environmental monitoring programs.
