SHELLFISH PROCESSING PLANT QUALITY MANAGEMENT PROGRAM PLAN DEVELOPMENT

Ruth Salmon was responsible for the development of a Quality Management Program (QMP) for a two new Vancouver Island shellfish processing plants. These facilities were designed to be capable of handling aquaculture produced oysters, clams, mussels and scallops. The QMP projects involved discussions with the client to confirm product flow and handling needs, followed by the drafting of a plan based on CFIA guidelines and HACCP principles and negotiation/revision of this plan with CFIA officials. These plant received certification from CFIA and are now operating.

Brian Kingzett and Stephanie Richards are both HACCP certified and Brian Kingzett has assisted with depuration plant certification.
