BRIAN KINGZETT, M.Sc.

During Brian Kingzett’s eighteen years experience in the aquaculture field he has amassed a unique blend of a aquaculture expertise including industry development, scientific research, direct industry experience, and working with First Nations. Specific projects have included academic and applied research into new species culture, nursery rearing techniques, environmental impact assessments, quality assurance, water quality monitoring, aquaculture governance and policy review, aquaculture biophysical capability studies, regional development initiatives, as well as fisheries projects.

Brian has received environmental assessment training from the Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency, is HACCP certified and is accredited as an independent certifier with the Aquaculture Certification Council Inc. Brian is also a regular contributor to Northern Aquaculture Magazine.

Direct industry experience includes 10 years as the owner/operator of a shellfish culture enterprise on the West Coast of Vancouver Island. During this time Brian has held positions as President of the BC Shellfish Growers Association (BCSGA), board member of the Canadian Aquaculture Industry Alliance and the Canadian Aquaculture Sector Council in Ottawa and President of a local marketing cooperative.

Brian formed Kingzett Professional Services in 1990 to provide project-consulting services in the aquaculture industry. Brian successfully grew this firm until 2004 at which point the Blue Revolution Consulting Group was formed. Focusing on a team approach to project completion in project lead and subcontractor roles on a wide range of interdisciplinary projects and initiatives, Brian has become established as a leading expert in the Canadian shellfish culture industry.
