STEPHANIE RICHARDS

Stephanie Richards provides more than 19 years of finfish and shellfish aquaculture expertise, field experience and technical assistance on field oriented research projects. Stephanie’s direct industry experience includes managing an experimental pilot scale Black-cod grow-out facility, a 6 ha Atlantic salmon farm, and a 12 ha Manila clam and Pacific oyster culture operation in Barkley Sound.

Her areas of expertise include writing contract proposals and negotiations, budgeting, staffing, acquisition, inventory, project coordination and research and development, as well as, farm husbandry and maintenance, water quality monitoring, fish health, crew training and supervision, husbandry and harvesting procedures for both finfish and shellfish species.

Stephanie is qualified to design and implement GIS, is HACCP certified and is accredited as an independent certifier with the Aquaculture Certification Council Inc.

With Kingzett Professional Services and Blue Revolution Consulting, Stephanie has completed an extensive variety of projects in the field, including: site assessments and valuations, beach surveys, oyster production studies and environmental sampling, and has provided shellfish aquaculture training in local communities. In 2003, Stephanie acted as the field coordinator as part of the Tsimshian Stewardship and Coastal First Nations Regional Shellfish Development Initiative, responsible for overseeing the set-up of 22 tests sites and pilot shellfish farms in 10 First Nations community on the Central and North Coast. Subsequent work on this project has involved site monitoring; training and facilitating technology transfer tours.

In response to industry needs, in 2004 Stephanie co-founded Blue Revolution Consulting Group, focusing on a team approach to project completion in project lead and subcontractor roles on a wide range of interdisciplinary projects and initiatives.
